About Oscar Betancur

Oscar Betancur has a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Media Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Summa Cum Laude, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of New Jersey.

Oscar is a multi-disciplinary creative director, with the hybrid skillset of both a graphic designer and a motion media designer. He has more than 15 years of creative direction and production management experience in the advertising and marketing arena. Formerly the VP / Associate Creative Director / Creative Group Head of The Star Group, he lead and managed a creative team that created award-winning work for a wide variety of clients in the food, retail, hospitality, law, health care, non-profit and consumer packaged goods industries.

Oscar has garnered more than two-dozen industry awards for his work on behalf of such clients as American Red Cross, Pennsylvania Ballet, and AmeriHealth. He has received accolades from The ADDY Awards, Philadelphia Ad Club, the New Jersey Ad Club, as well as the Philadelphia chapter of Public Relations Society of America. His team’s work for New Orleans’ Touro Infirmary in the wake of Hurricane Katrina also brought Star acclaim with the prestigious Lagniappe Award from the Louisiana Hospital Association and has received special commendation by the Mayor of Philadelphia for his work with the American Red Cross.

Before joining Star, Oscar was Principal / Creative Director for Piranha Industries, a Philadelphia multimedia, audio production and design studio that specialized in the entertainment and retail fields. Earlier, he was a Senior Art Director for Gyro Worldwide, Philadelphia, where he handled a diverse client roster including RJ Reynolds, Chupa Chups Lollipops, and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Additionally, Oscar held the role of 2nd Vice President, Executive Officer of the Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Jersey Awards for The New Jersey Advertising Club. Oscar is also a Freemason.
